MN Rush Futsal - February 2021
Program OverviewThe futsal program was developed with the following goals in mind:
· Continue winter soccer related training for the Rochester community
· Provide means for soccer technical skill development over the Winter months.
· Support all ages and skill levels
· Combine skill training and scrimmages in a fun environment
· Focus is on skill development and fun, not on competition.
· Multiple age groups to allow for age and skill-appropriate training
· No predetermined teams, but will be more like a “pick up” environment
· Play will be age appropriate and supervised by coaches, but not interrupted for coaching direction. (Attendance is strongly encouraged)
Small Group Sessions - (12-20 players) - Since different ages have different needs we will keep the groups with a close age range to maximize the development of players. These sessions will focus on developing the core ball-control skills needed for futsal and outdoor soccer. Note: Due to limited sizes and sessions, spaces will be granted on a first come, first served basis.
Location: RCTC Fieldhouse
Free Play - Unstructured scrimmaging is one of the keys to developing more technical and creative players. This is made possible with the “Brazilian pelada”, which is an unstructured time playing soccer. The "Pelada" is one of the things that makes the Brazilian style so unique. Coaches will help define teams and supervise, but will not be coaching during free play periods. It will be once a week. This will not be possible this year due the court availability.
