Make a difference in a child's life, Become a REC Coach

Content

Minnesota Rush is a nonprofit organization run by volunteers. Without these volunteers we would not be able to service the number of players we do.  The biggest area of need is in our REC program.  We know the apprehension when it comes to coaching especially if you have not played the sport before.  To help ease this apprehension our Technical Director, Neil Cassidy, developed the following:

- A comprehensive 6 week program manual.
- Coaching Education Courses offered in the winter months

In addition, Neil and all technical staff are here to assist you in anyway possible.

Become a coach by clicking on the registration belo - note you will need to return to this page to complete the background requirements.

Rec Coach's Meeting

August 29 - Fuad Monsour Soccer Complex Equipment Shed

This year fall we will not be holding our usual coach's meeting at Willow Creek school.  There will also not be a coaching clinic held this fall.

Instead we will set up times slots for coaches to come to the Fuad Monsour Soccer Complex equipment shed to pick up their team shirts and practice equipment.   Neil Cassidy, Kevin Lowery and Paul Keller will be there to answer any league or coaching questions that you have.   An email will be sent to all coaches with signup information.

In order to work with players we need the following documentation completed.

Background Check
Minnesota State Law and MYSA Policy require that all adult participants have an approved background check before they participate in any MYSA activity.  All Minnesota Rush (formerly RYSA) coaches are required to complete a background check prior to coaching a team.  Merely submitting a background check is not sufficient to meet the requirement to participate, the background check must be approved before any activity starts.

The period for completing a background check for 2020 will open on January 1, 2020. Background check completed on or after November 1, 2019 will expire on December 31, 2019.

To complete the background check, click this link,http://minnesotayouthsoccer-bgc.sportsaffinity.com, and then follow the steps.

After you submit your background check you will receive an email acknowledging your submission of it.  This email will also contain the links and access code to complete the Safe Point and Concussion training courses.

Concussion Training
Minnesota State Law and MYSA Policy require that all adult participants complete the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s HEADS UP Concussion Training every three years.   All coaches must print out the certificate upon completion of the course and turn it in to Minnesota Rush prior to coaching a team.

Follow this link to view the course: http://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/index.html

SafeSport Training
Federal Law and MYSA Policy now require that all adult participants complete SafeSport Training every two years.  The training is being offered free of charge through U.S. Soccer’s onboarding link and access code.  All Minnesota Rush coaches are required to complete this course before coaching a team.

After you submit your background check, you will receive an automated reply from the registration platform that includes the links to the Concussion Training and SafeSport Training with an access code.
